Ask Your Physician About A Team Discussion To Manage Diabetes Symptoms
Talk with your physician about a team discussion if your diabetes symptoms are not improved. Ask if there are other medical professionals you should add to the team as well.
You are central to that team along with your physician and your dentist. Your physician and dentist may suggest bringing additional people into the team. Specialists like endocrinologists and other medical professionals like dietitians can be great assets to your overall diabetes care. Other professionals who are sometimes part of a diabetes care team include:
Nurse Educators: A nurse educator or diabetes nurse practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) with special training and background in caring for and teaching people with diabetes.
Registered Dietitian
A registered dietitian (RD) is trained in nutrition and has passed a national exam. An RD may also have a master's degree or may be a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
