What Your Dentist Should Do: Teaming Up For Better Diabetes Management

Taking care of your oral health is as important as taking care of your physical health because the two are dynamically coupled. Think of an equilateral triangle. At each point is an important member of your diabetes health team.   At the top of the triangle is you, the patient, because it’s your health that we’re concerned with.   Your dentist and your physician are the other points in the triangle and you’re all connected because the connection between your oral health and your physical health is so closely linked.

It’s definitely never too late to start getting good oral health care. And that attention to your oral health can improve your overall physical health.   If you already have severe gum disease or other dental problems, there’s no better time to start treatment than right now.   Proper treatment can help stop serious gum disease and other dental problems in their tracks. Sometimes that includes reversing the damage done to your teeth and gums. An extra benefit is that good oral care can help you manage your diabetes.

What if you haven’t any symptoms of diabetes-related oral health problems? That makes this an even better time to start on your diabetes dentistry care.   The prevention program you start today will help you stay in control of your diabetes, maintain better health and enjoy a better quality of life.

Remember, it’s a team effort between you, your dentist and your physician.   That’s why there’s no better time to start than right now, and no better way to start than with what you have after reading this blog – complete information about how you can work together with your physician and your dentist to take control of your own health and – along the way – get the best smile you can have and plaster it all over your face!
