Getting Dental Care That’s Focused On Diabetes-Related Risks

If you’ve been reading this blog with any regularity, by now I’m sure you’re wondering “What can I do as a dental patient to make sure I’m getting the kind of dental treatment I need that considers my unique risks for gum disease and its interactions with other diabetes symptoms?”

And, frankly, that’s a critical question with only one good answer. You need a dentist who will pay special attention to your oral health needs and your overall health needs, especially those connected with diabetes.   If you don’t feel that your dentist does pay special attention to the connection between your physical health and your dental health, it’s time to have a discussion with him or her about your concerns.

If, as a result of that discussion, you still don’t feel you’re getting the kind of dental care you need as a person who has diabetes it’s time to start looking for a new dentist.   After reading this blog you’ll have the knowledge you need to confidently start a conversation with your current dentist about your treatment or to interview new dentists.

If you do decide to seek out a new dental care provider, one option is to contact the DentistsForDiabeticsSM practitioner in your region. Check out the DentistryForDiabetics.com Web site for more information.   Meanwhile, in a number of successive blog posts, we’ll discuss a few key points that you’ll want to cover with whomever you chose as your dental care provider.
